Loans


Information describing
Stafford Plus and Alternative loan programs currently available
to students at the University of Pittsburgh and information about
the application process for each program is available through the
Office of Admissions and Financial Aid.
Loan Processing
There are various types of loans available:
If your Financial Aid includes a Stafford Loan and you want to reduce the amount of your loan, contact the Financial Aid Office to request the reduction.
- Email the Financial Aid Office at oafa@pitt.edu with your request. If you have a subsidized and unsubsidized loan, be sure to indicate which loan is to be reduced or
- Complete a Loan Change form http://www.pitt.edu/~oafa/pdf/loanchange.pdf and send to the Financial Aid Office or
- Go to the Financial Aid Office in Alumni Hall in person for assistance in reducing your loan.

Emergency Loan Processing
Various types
of Emergency Loans are available from several University sources.
You must apply for an Emergency Loan in person in the Student Organization
Resource Center (SORC), 119 William Pitt Union. The lender determines
eligibility for emergency funding. These loans are then processed
by the Student Payment Center. There is a waiting period of up to
three working days before the funds are released.
